HWB Veneers & Wood Materials:
Thickly milled “fillet of the tree” for the Henschel fashion house in Darmstadt

Bonn/Darmstadt. The Henschel fashion house in Darmstadt is a true cultural monument for architectural and historical reasons. The family-run company has been very successful for decades in the highly competitive fashion and lifestyle market. In addition to the customer benefits of a wide range of modern products and services, it has now installed elegant and sound-absorbing interior elements made of “milled”, 6-millimeter-thick “4D-White Oak” thick veneer from HWB Furniere & Holzwerkstoffe in Bad Salzuflen. These make shopping in an appealing atmosphere pleasing to the eye and ear. The sound level is dampened by the veneer slats, allowing customers to concentrate fully on the product range.

So-called “4Design Techno Veneers” were installed in the Darmstadt fashion temple. The boards are mainly milled from ALPI thick veneers. They are available with a slat structure with flat or round slats, with an angular or wavy structure and in sheet, FlexBoard or board versions, i.e. with different thicknesses and shaping options. “The boards can be used as a wall element, as a partition or partition wall and as a furniture front, for example,” explains HWB Managing Director Frank D. Loebel.

Only FlexBoards and sheets of the “White Oak” variety were used in Darmstadt. “The architectural firm Blocher Partners was responsible for furnishing the Henschel fashion store with our star veneers. What the employees there have achieved is worthy of all honors,” says Loebel about the conversion, which was implemented by Schlegel GmbH stores concepts hotels under the direction of Sven Höhnisch. Ursula Geismann, Managing Director of the Bonn-based Initiative Furnier + Natur (IFN) and trend expert, concludes: “The warm, light color of the wood and the attractive lamella look harmonize perfectly with the rest of the clothing store's furnishings. Veneer can be used in many ways, which this project proves in an impressive way.” IFN/DS
